Bodil Manz’s monumental installation ‘My Daily Life with Incidents in Clay, Plaster, Paper and Other Materials’ has entered the permanent collection of Musée Ariana.

Considered Manz’s most important work, it is created from 132 of her signature thin-walled porcelain cylinders, together with elements of plaster, wood and metal. Four metres long, it was conceived as a model of an imagined, futuristic city. Yet it is far more than a city. The work gathers the fragments, experiments and prototypes of a lifetime devoted to ceramics. Each cylinder stands as an independent object and, at the same time, a building block of a larger system, revealing how artistic ideas grow through repetition and variation. As an archive and a landscape, it is a map of artistic memory. First shown at CLAY Keramikmuseum Denmark in the exhibition ‘Keramiske Veje’ (2018), the work now has a permanent home in the beautiful Musée Ariana in Geneva where it can be experienced and studied by generations to come.

This acquisition has been made possible by the generous support of the Carlsberg Foundation. Our warmest thanks to the Foundation, the team at Musée Ariana, Bodil Manz, Køppe Contemporary, and our collector… you know who you are.
