Born and raised in China, Jinya Zhao is an internationally recognized glass artist known for her innovative approach to sculpture, installation, and design. She discovered her passion for glass art while earning her BA at the China Academy of Art (2013-2017) and later refined her expertise with an MA from the Royal College of Art, UK (2017-2019).
Zhao sees glass as a dynamic medium to explore themes of environment, emotions, and personal experience. Her latest collection delves into the interplay of color, form, and structure, using varying glass qualities to challenge viewers’ perceptions. Through the layering of opaque and transparent blown glass, she creates enigmatic forms that blur the boundaries between interior and exterior, sparking curiosity and emotional responses.
