Taste Contemporary is proud to present The Darkroom, Dye Lab + Kiln, an exhibition of work by Garry Fabian Miller, Ptolemy Mann and Marit Tingleff.

The exhibition explores the interconnected concepts of the darkroom, dye lab, and kiln. As sites of production and transformation, where material, environment and process converge across photography, weaving and ceramics, the parity between each of these creative spaces is striking and mysterious. Each artist – Garry Fabian Miller, Marit Tingleff and Ptolemy Mann – are working in the dark. Their deep embodied knowledge gained through years of research and experience gives them freedom to make sophisticated, expressive work in their given media. This allows them to access something true and deep in their creative processes. ‘I think of the potter’s kiln and the photographer’s darkroom as equivalent places’, says photographer Garry Fabian Miller. ‘Both are sites of alchemy where substances are made.’
